What Is A Natural Remedy For Insomnia?

The Secrets Of Getting Restful Sleep!

natural sleeping aides

There are a multitude of reasons for people having a very hard time falling asleep and then staying asleep. In fact they are so numerous that to list them would be an exercise in futility.  Although, with all that is going on in the world today, one might correctly guess that stress statistically is at the top of the list.  Between 30% and 60% of American adults experience insomnia symptoms at some point in their lives. Insomnia is becoming a serious issue and the USA Congress has approved numerous studies on sleep disorders and even set up a National Center on Sleep Disorders to study this problem. Sleep is so important to our health that we shouldn’t let insomnia ruin it. So, how can we cure it, what is a natural remedy for insomnia?

Like all problems that we face in life, insomnia, can also be dealt with and cured! So, let us look at some good news and common sense solutions concerning insomnia!  Did you know that many contributing factors to insomnia could be easily addressed without taking any pharmaceutical medicines!
More than likely we have all heard this saying, “Sometimes we can’t see the forest for the trees.” This really goes for curing our insomnia problems.  So, think about the following issues and see if they apply to you in anyway.

If you are waking up all through the night, ask yourself:

1.    Is my bed comfortable or do I just accept it as it is? Many of us sleep in beds that are too hard, or too soft, or maybe even too saggy. Our pillows are ones that we just happen to have around and really aren’t that comfortable. So, start with your bed and make sure hat it is 100% comfortable for reasons that are unique and important to you!

2.    Is your bedroom too light or too noisy? Darker drapes might help and maybe a “white noise” device could help to disguise the noises that might keep you awake or awaken you.

3.    Do you worry too much? Is your mind racing through tomorrow’s planned activities, bills to be paid, and so forth. If so, stand up and take some deep breaths and do some simple stretching. This will help to control your mind without getting your body in too high of gear!

4.    Do you initially fall asleep and then have to get up through the night to urinate? If so, try not to drink coffee after 1:00PM or alcohol or other beverages several hours before going to sleep.

If you have all of those factors under control and still have trouble sleeping, get up and read a little and try breathing and stretching some more. Don’t just lie in bed and watch the clock, this will only keep you up!

Also try to adopt some good habits during the day that will contribute to your getting a good nights sleep. Follow routines simply because they work!
Have a consistent bedtime routine. You might take a bath, walk the dog, read a book, or maybe even pray or meditate.

  • Another routine to follow is to go to bed at the same time and to get up at the same time, yes, even on weekends!
  • Be active during the day. The more that you expend energy the better that you will sleep. The more sedentary that we are the better chance we will have of sleep disorders.
  • Don’t eat a lot of food in the late evening.During the day cut back on your coffee intake and don’t drink alcohol especially in the evening.
  • Do something before bed that relaxes you.
  • It is good to spend some time outside in the natural light. This helps you when it comes time to sleep.
  • It is also good to spend some time in dim light within an hour of going to sleep. This starts to prepare your mind and body for sleep.

If you try all of these types of things and still have trouble getting to sleep or awakening in the middle of the night then it might be time to investigate an herbal sleep remedy. Two of the best and well known herbs contained in most natural sleep aids are the herbs valerian and melatonin. Valerian has been known through the ages as a sedative herb. On the other hand, Melatonin is a hormone that regulates the wake/sleep cycle. Other natural sedative herbs and extracts include, 5-HTP, Rhodiola Rosea Extract, Chamomile, Hops, Lavender, Passion flower, Wild lettuce, California poppy, Kava kava, and St. John’s Wort. These also can be found in some combination in the better herbal sleep aides.

Melatrol Testimonials (Taken From Their Web Site)

"I was prepared for the sleepless nights after having my second child, but after two years on no more than 5 hours a night I was a mess. The kids slept through the night, but instead I was up and had to get back to work in the morning as usual. Juggling family life and work became impossible on such little sleep and even my relationship with my husband started to suffer from it. My mother in law suggested using Melatrol and it saved my life! I’m going to work rested and still have energy for my family at the end of the day!"
- Charlie, San Francisco-

"I’ve battled insomnia since college, and the toll it has been taking on my life was steadily increasing as the years passed by. Using Melatrol has allowed me to enjoy life again and to be more lucid after waking up in mornings. I can finally stay awake during meetings and instead easily fall asleep at night. Thank you for this great product!"
- Preeti, Toronto-

"Doing shift work caused me to fall asleep during night time working hours but be awake during the day, when I should have been sleeping. Once I started taking Melatrol I managed to adjust to this irregular schedule of working days one week, and nights the next."
- Emanuel, San Antonio

"As a college student, I spend many late nights studying, only to get up early for classes the next day. This has a really negative effect on my sleeping patterns. Upon trying Melatrol I have found that I can now enjoy a regular sleep schedule when I want to, especially after exam time when I’m used to being up all night and have trouble falling asleep again"
